The Association / Organisation
Grupo Capoeira Brasil Australia (CBAU) was established by Mestre Peixe (Andre Cerrutti) in 1992 under the supervision of Mestre Boneco (Beto Simas, Brazil) with a mission to teach ethical, respectful and disciplined Capoeira. Since then, the academy based in Sydney has seen the community continuously grow bigger and stronger, with instructors now teaching in Townsville (Qld), Melbourne (Vic), New Zealand, New Caledonia and Hong Kong. Mestre Peixe strongly believes in the value of ethics and discipline within the Capoeira world, and this is how he carries himself and teaches us how to be. This ensures that the standard of Capoeira that is taught is genuine and of the highest standard, enabling these values to be passed down to future generations.
The Australia Capoeira Brazil Association (ACBA) was established in 2002 and has become one of the leading capoeira learning and development organisation, and is also part of the World Capoeira Federation (WCF).
Grupo Capoera Brasil Alexandria, is a small group with classes specifically tailored for kids and teenagers being taught by Bom Senhor (Monitor). Bom Senhor is currently focused on developing and improving the Capoeira for Kids program. His Vision is to one day see a community evolve from our younger generation that will have enough exposure and knowledge from the capoeira community to be able to ensure the preservation of roots and traditions of Capoeira.
Bom Senhor continues to practice Capoeira and is proud to be part of Mestre Peixe Team.
We are currently located at 40/112 McEvoy Street, Alexandria (Latin Dance House, Hall 2)
Walking to the studio: It’s pretty easy to find the complex where our studio is located, but it can be a bit tricky to find the studio within the complex. The studio entry is located at the rear of the building, you need to walk (or drive) through the car park.
